What is pity in Wuthering Waves?
Pity is a hidden counter that guarantees you a 5★ after a certain number of pulls. Every pull on a Convene banner without a 5★ increases your chances. The counter resets to zero the moment you pull a 5★.
The base rate
Every pull has a 0.8% base chance of dropping a 5★. That's the flat rate from pull 1 up to the soft pity threshold.
Soft pity starts at pull 66
From pull 66 onward, your chance rises by +6% per pull each pull. This is why most 5★ characters drop in the 66-80 range — the odds climb fast and the curve is steep.
Hard pity at 80
Pull 80 is a guaranteed 5★ — a 100% rate. You can never go past 80 pulls without a 5★ on a Convene banner.
The 50/50 guarantee
When you pull a 5★, there's a 50% chance it's the featured character. If you lose the 50/50, your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured one — this guarantee carries over between banners of the same type.
What carries over between banners?
- Your pity counter carries over between same-type banners
- Your guarantee status (lost the 50/50 or not) carries over too
- Nothing carries over between character and weapon banners
