Honkai: Star Rail Weapon Banner Explained
The weapon banner is where pulls get expensive โ and where most players waste currency. Here's exactly how Honkai: Star Rail's weapon pool works, including the rate-up rules and (where applicable) the Epitomized Path guarantee.
How the weapon pity works
The weapon banner runs its own pity counter, separate from the character banner:
- **Base rate**: 0.6% per pull
- **Soft pity**: starts at pull 74, rising +6% per pull per pull
- **Hard pity**: pull 90 is a guaranteed 5โ weapon
- **Pity carries over** between weapon banners of the same type โ but never between character and weapon banners
The 75/25 rule
Unlike the character banner's 50/50, weapon banners in most games use a 75/25 split: when you pull a 5โ , there's a 75% chance it's one of the two rate-up weapons and only 25% it's an off-banner weapon. That makes the first 5โ much more likely to be useful โ but it's still not a guarantee of your target.
Epitomized Path (where available)
If the game offers an Epitomized Path (fate points):
- Set your target weapon when the banner starts
- Miss it **twice** โ the **third** 5โ is guaranteed to be your target
- Fate points **carry over** between banners of the same type, so partial progress isn't wasted
- Worst case: 90 ร 3 = {hard * 3} pulls for your exact weapon
What this costs
- 90 pulls = {hard * cost} Stellar Jades at worst for any 5โ weapon
- {hard * 3} pulls = {hard * 3 * cost} Stellar Jades for a guaranteed Epitomized Path target
- That's why budget planners say: **never pull the weapon banner unless you can reach the guarantee**
Strategy
1. Only pull if you're prepared to go to the full guarantee
2. Check the current weapon lineup against the Honkai: Star Rail Weapon Banner Calculator โ it shows your exact odds at any pity count
3. If you only want one of the two rate-ups, the Epitomized Path (or skipping entirely) is often smarter
4. Weapon pulls usually carry less long-term value than character pulls for most players
Summary
- Separate pity pool: 0.6% base, soft 74, hard 90
- 75/25 rate-up (not 50/50)
- Epitomized Path caps the target at {hard * 3} pulls
- Budget for the guarantee or don't pull
