What this means for your pulls
Soft pity is where most 5★ actually drop: from pull 74 onward the rate climbs sharply, so the realistic pull window is around 74-90. Saving exactly to hard pity is almost never necessary — budget for the ~75-pull average instead.
Pity carries over
Pity on the same banner type carries over between banners. You can let a banner expire with 70 pity banked and the next banner keeps counting from 70. This is why checking your pity before pulling matters — you may be closer than you think.
